backup solution

Hello,
Please show me the way to archive all my hard drive, to make backup of my system.
Everytime when I try to do it with tar it gaves me errors like:
"Error exit delayed from previous errors"
and I can't make full archive...

I'm not a fan of the imaging solutions, but regardless, I agree that the backup should be done from a LiveCD.
As for using tar on a running system, you probably need to exclude a few directories - /proc and /dev come to mind. Fire up a CD, and do it from there.

Can you post the command that you ran and the output that was printed just before the error?

The server is in USA datacenter, and I don't have psychical access to it. So I can't use live cd.
Any other suggestions?
