Question APLAY sucks CPU Time

New to all this.
Running Mandrake 9.1.
Once KDE is loaded, APLAY sucks the life out of CPU.
Never lets up or stops.
I have to go into KDE System Guard and kill it.
?

Is this when your running it to play sound files or is it just starting when KDE loads up and then starts sucking your CPU? Have you tried any alternatives to aplay to play sounds?

If you don't use it, you can possibly just remove the package then. I don't use KDE so I wouldn't know for sure how to disable it to start, but removing would work..
