Hi there!
Iam running RD 7.0 and Win Me on my machine. I recently got it installed. I used the book 'Red hat linux Bible' and it came with the red hat installation CD and a chapter on how to get it installed. There are 2 ways to get RD7.0 running on a box that already has Windows loaded on it. 1. Partitionless -> No formatting/partitioning reqd... uses the existing fat32 filesystem. Supposed to be slow in performance. 2. with partition : I made space for RD 7.0 installation by using the FIPS utility that came with the CD. FIPS help you create a partition without destroying the existing partition. It worked wonderfully and I really found the tool very handy. It has some know bugs and you might want to check it out if you are planning on using it. Good luck with the installation.
I use System Commander 2000 to boot between W95, W2000, Mandrake and Corel Linux... cost a bit of money... but I am always testing this OS or that OS and I am happy with this product.
Oh yeah! LILO is very flexible and can boot most OSs. Word of warning:
Install Windows first! Windows doesn't like non-Windows OSs.
It's all very well installing Win9x with WinNT as they recognise eachother and you will get a nice little menu to boot from either. Try installing Lin first though, and when you come to install Windows you will lose access to your Lin system (unless you have a boot-floppy, which is always a good idea - make one for each OS on your system!).
You _could_ install Lin first, lose access to it and boot from the floppy, but this is a bit of a hassle if you're likely to be using Lin with any regularity.
Happy playing!
Oh, by the way - As I have advised many people here:
Try Norton Ghost! It will save you a lot of time/energy re-installing your OS if all should go horribly wrong!
