I have installed ET and the 1.02 patch without difficulties but when I try to start the game it wont work , screens goes black for half a second then goes back to desktop and computer freezes. I tried the option to run in a new terminal ...did pretty much the same thing but didnt freeze.

I went on the games website and got some info on how to fix the problem ...bt frankly im a noob and have no idea what I'm suppose to do with this :

Some Red Hat 9 setups fail to start Enemy Territory with an error about TLS during OpenGL init. This happens because you are loading /usr/lib/tls/libGL.so.1, which seems to have ABI issues. You should use the /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 one, by using +set r_glDriver /usr/lib/libGL.so.1

do you have libGL.so.1 in /usr/lib/tls/? try copying all the opengl associated files over to /usr/lib. does that work?

heh, i can't get it to work in RH9, win98 or winXP (all recent installs, all well patched)

I have ET working under linux. I have 2.55, which looks like the latest version, but no 1.02 patch. When I loaded it up it asked to download the new version, and then it locked up. I think the patch is the problem. Try not patching it (I know, the servers wont be the latest, but at least it would work until they get a new updated patch out.)

The patch that gets downloaded by default is the Windows version.

Well afler looking a bit in my folders I noticed that my libGL.so.1 was in the /usr/lib directory so I'm starting to wonder if my problem is really as describe on the game's website.

I tried only installing the game without the patch but it still wont work....

when I load the game by using run the screen flickers and then my computer locks up except for the mouse still being able to move it .

When I try run in a terminal I see something loading but only for 1 or 2 seconds then it goes ...looks as if it was loading the game ...joystick being detected (about the only thing i can read at the speed the screen disappears)

I currently have a Geforce 3 64M and an AMD athlon 1.47 and using still red hat 9.0


p.s: was wondering how or where you can get the info that is being loaded when the window opens if its only on for 1 or 2 seconds ? That way I could ppost it or even understand it by myself.

1.02 works fine for me its just when I enable punkbuster it locks

Select it, then paste it here(click both mouse buttons).
