It's quite hard to find, but I'm looking.

In the mean time here is the original announcement...........

Funcom and Troll Tech announce a Linux version of Funcom's Massive Multi-Player game Anarchy Online

- Oslo, Feb 1st 2000 - Funcom is pleased to announce the Linux version of our Massive Multi-player Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) Anarchy Online. Anarchy Online is Funcom's largest project ever and the game will be launched during the year 2000 after a thorough beta testing. The game can be compared to online titles such as Everquest and Asheron's Call. However, Anarchy Online is set in a sci-fi environment 30.000 years into the future on a distant planet called Rubi-Ka. The players interact and play in a graphical detailed 3D-world alongside thousands of other players.

Funcom has been using Linux and Troll Tech's Qt technology since project-launch approximately three years ago. Qt powers editors, game tools and the game client itself, and the Qt technology has allowed Funcom to keep nearly the entire code platform independent. "Using Qt technology has proven very beneficial in terms of project planning and time management. Making the Linux port will now be a trivial operation, " states Marius Kjeldahl, Funcom's VP of Technology.

The Linux version will be nearly identical to the Windows version and will support all the major Linux-distributions and supported 3D-hardware.

I would love to see these run nativly without the use of a windows emulator:

Deus Ex
Deus Ex: Invisible War
Far Cry
FEAR
Area 51
Half-life (1 and 2 plus expansions and mods)
Age of Empires series
Ground Control II
Blitzkrieg 2
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Call of Duty series
Splinter Cell series
The Sims (1 and 2 plus expansions and mods)
Lord of the Rings games
Others that I can't think of off the top of my head.

What is the possibility that game makers will actually port their games to other OS's? In my view the possibility is pretty low. It would be great though.

The games I used to spend nights on playing on WinXp were The Settlers 1 and 2, and Commandos 1 and 2 (3 was somewhat too difficult for me)
- I would be more than happy to see those (rather old games) on linux

For me, that would be...

In no particular order:

- The Quest For Glory series (or at least QFG V - but works under wine it does B) )

- The King's Quest series

- The Prince of Persia games (Wine can't run this -yet- because it does not have multithreading support ATM... or something like that).

- The Longest Journey and Dreamfall (DF *almost* works with Wine)

- Secret Files Tunguska (this also works with wine... perfectly, I might add).

- Beyond Good & Evil

- TES (The Elder Scrolls): Morrowind and TES: Oblivion

- Broken Sword series (at least, Sleeping Dragon and Angel of Death)

- Two Worlds (has yet to come out - somewhere in June I think)

- Still Life

- Laxius Power series (well, those work with Wine too...)

- Anachronox (yes, Wine plays this too...)

- Gothic III

- Discworld series

- Monkey Island series

- Gabriel Knight series (Beast Within runs perfectly on Wine, I believe GK3 runs on it too)

- Grim Fandango
- Runaway I and II (what do you know, Wine runs both of these too...)
- Simon the Sorcerer series
- Sam & Max series
- Splinter Cell Series
- Deus EX 1

- The upcoming "Assassins Creed"

So far my "modest" list
