Hey guys, if this has already been discussed, let me know. I haven't found a relevant thread yet, however.
So graphics wise, Quake 3 seems to run great when I have Beryl running. Problem is, however, is that key mappings are all messed up. The controls do not want to work correctly (wasd do not respond, and I can not move).
Can this be fixed easily?
Besides that, oh and the infamous sound problems (that I've tried everything to fix), is what keeps me from fully enjoying Quake 3 on Linux (though it runs perfect under Metacity).
Distribution: K/Ubuntu 18.04-14.04, Scientific Linux 6.3-6.4, Android-x86, Pretty much all distros at one point...

Yeah but try Quake 4...
You'll be a bust...
The best bet for 3D gaming is to use either xgamer (a set of scripts to cause a new X session to launch right into the game), or simply create another user account that run s a thinner windowing system, like XFCE to run your 3D games.
I cannot get acceptable frame rates in any 3D games (any DECENT ones, anyway) while running Beryl... for instance... Quake 4, Doom 3, X2 - The Threat, etc, etc.
