Not a gamer myself.

I'd pay attention to this warning since I don't know your install yet.

Ubuntu Precise (and superior) users : You must install the package wine:i386 to get PlayOnLinux working
Where I read this

https://www.playonlinux.com/en/download.html

Seems like what you want is pretty simple really in Lubuntu. But if you wanna game. How about you show members a inxi report.

When I wish to post my install to show my hardware and sources list etc......

inxi -v8 -z

Gives me some useful info on my computer. Also gives members here a idea if you are up to spec for gaming in linux.

I am not a Lubuntu user. I use Kubuntu but they are sort of alike.
It looks like Lubuntu has a "Software Store", just like Kubuntu has it's own "Discover".

This is an old page but shows some screenshots.
https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/09/...oftware-center

I'm guessing to open it, you click on Start -> System -> Software Center.
Then at the top right, type in Play on Linux, press enter.
It will do a little search and just click install.
My guess is that it will install all dependencies automatically, including WINE.

and then, Play In Linux will probably appear on your Start menu, probably under Games or Utilities

Thanks rokytnji for your quick reply.I play PC games but I am not your usual gamer. The last game I bought was about 5/6 years ago.My main interest in games is World war II turn based games ( which require really low PC specs ) I installed 1 Steam game and it was so much hassle that I decided never to buy another steam game ever.
What I want to do with Linux is install and play turn based games and hopefully ( later ) help other Linux users play Windows games.I am quite knowledgeable about Windows and I would like to help Windows users repair their PCs as well, using Linux.
I didnt post my PC specs because even the latest WW II turn based games ( Order of battle series ) would probably run on a Windows 98 PC.

I don't think we "have to" do that.
Esp. since such resources are readily available to anyone who can formulate a search query to put into a search engine, e.g. how to install play on linux - here's a fine result:

instead of play on linux. It is not resource hungry and has 100's of games from doom to you name it.
Pretty sure tanks and airplanes can be played in Linux.

I even once long ago got thinktanks game to run on a 512MB ram , single core atom cpu, netbook.

Hi Rok,
I may or may not have been the Mepis user that was attempting to get Bravetree's Think Tanks 32 bit tank game working in Mepis years ago.
Now I have a newly installed MX OS and am trying to get that very same game to run on MX. I can get it to open and run in "solo" offline mode fine.
But as soon as I try to connect to a game server the game immediately crashes and closes. Any ideas?
Thanks in Advance,
Jeff
As far as how the default game setups go. I have no clues.
Seems to me one needs to extract game contents and do some editing.
I figure he knows how to run it in terminal and see if any errors spit out.
That thread was from 2011.
Gives you a idea of what follows me around.

Nobody uses PlayOnLinux anymore. Lutris has taken its place.
