OOTP Baseball won't launch - Linux newbie

I've downloaded Linux demo version (9) of out of the park baseball and everything appeared to go smoothly. BUT, when I go to execute the game, nothing happens. I'm running Ubuntu 8.4.1

Checked permissions and that seems fine.

Any suggestions? Running this on a Dell Mini 9 which is my first venture in to Linux.

Bob

Could you provide us the link to the website from where you downloaded the game?

Also, try running the game through command-line (Terminal in your case) and copy-paste any errors here that pop up.

Here is the site. The demo download is at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for looking into this!

Hehe, looking at the screenshots, it looks like a cool game to play in free time.

Anyway, getting back to the original problem. Tell us one more thing - are you trying to execute it by double-clicking on the "LinuxInstaller" file?

Take a look on what I've found on their site:
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/docu...#install_linux

In the above instructions, if double-clicking doesn't work, you can always use command-line (Terminal) to navigate to the extracted folder ("OOTPBaseballInstaller" in this case) and issuing the command:

Code:
./LinuxInstaller
or

Code:
sh LinuxInstaller
