Numpad problem in NetHack!

Hi,

I'm having problems getting the controls to work in Nethack. When I try to move around with the Number Pad, it just says 'Count' then the numbers I press. If I put Numlock off, the keys seem to correspond to different letters on the keyboard.. But home, pgup, end and pgdn seem to correspond to ~. Does anyone know how I could fix this? I'm using a UK keyboard and I've tried both the Gnome terminal and the regular terminal. Thanks.

Oh, and in ADOM I get similar problems with the function keys. Can anyone tell me how I get the function keys working in console games like these?

What you need to do when you're in game is press 'o' for options and then you can toggle the number pad off and on.
