No sound - Tux Racer Rh 9

Is Tux Racer that comes with RH 9 supposed to have sound? If so how do i get it working?

The kid loves it but would be better if it had some sound

edit: My sound card is working fine. Other games have sound.

IIRC, I had very much sound
Like, the sound of a chubby penguin sliding on snow, or sounds when it picks up a fish... Yes, the game definatly has sound!!111

i'm not sure, but i think tuxracer's sounds are mp3 format, and since RH doesn't support mp3 "out of the box" you may need to install the codecs 1st to get sound. if that's not the problem, then i don't know what the prob could be.
btw, if you like the demo, you'll love the retail version. more boards, score keeping, head-to-head play, more stable, and definitly more addicting.

On a related note, how do I get rid of sounds in TR?

ah yeh I downloaded the commercial demo and that has sound. But the one that comes pre-installed with Redhat 9 (open source) does not have sound.

I can play MP3's, I installed that program to enable MP3 support under RH9.

I'll probably try and buy the commercial version of Tux.

odd_bloke: as far as the demo goes, i've never seen an option to disable sound, so i guess you'd just have to turn your speakers off. sorry i can't be more help w/ that one.

huntz: that seems odd, but considering how many rh9 people are saying there's no sound in tr, i guess maybe it's a broken version or something. the tr demo that ships w/ mandrake up through 9.1 has sound.
