lxdoom using gamepad

Hi, I just installed lxdoom. Very cool! But I can't get it to work with my gamepad. The gamepad works with other games, so I am not sure what could be wrong.

I edited ~/lxdoom/boom.cfg file and played around with the Joystick settings but I still could not get it to work.

Has anyone been able to get a gamepad working with lxdoom?

Here are some settings I have tried so far:
Code:
# Joystick settings default
use_joystick 0
joy_left 0
joy_right 0
joy_up 0
joy_down 0
joyb_fire 0
joyb_strafe 1
joyb_speed 2
joyb_use 3
Code:
# Joystick settings test 1
use_joystick 1
joy_left 0
joy_right 0
joy_up 0
joy_down 0
joyb_fire 0
joyb_strafe 1
joyb_speed 2
joyb_use 3
Code:
# Joystick settings test 2
use_joystick 0
joy_left 0
joy_right 0
joy_up 0
joy_down 0
joyb_fire 1
joyb_strafe 2
joyb_speed 3
joyb_use 4
Code:
# Joystick settings test 3
use_joystick 0
joy_left 0

joy_up 1
joy_down 1
joyb_fire 0
joyb_strafe 1
joyb_speed 2

joy_up 1
joy_down 1
joyb_fire 0
joyb_strafe 1
joyb_speed 2
joyb_use 3

Thanks!

Jim
