I sent a letter to Rockstar North about GTA3 and Vice City coming to Linux and I decided to post the letter I sent so maybe other people will follow my lead and E-mail their favorite gaming house. So hear is the letter, if you think it could be better or you just want to talk about it please reply to this post.
Dear Rockstar North,
I love playing your games and I would love to buy your games for the PC. Unfortunately I (and many others) refuse to support Microsoft in anyway. Therefore I only use Linux for my computing needs. I hope that either Rockstar North or another offical porting company can port the GTA series to Linux. If Rockstar supported Linux and the Open Source Community I feel that many other gaming houses would follow. Mainly because of your influence in the industry. By doing so you would have pleased Linux users by allowing them to run GTA3 and Vice City natively on their Linux box. Also you would have helped the Linux gaming scene grow.
GTA3 and Vice City have immense popularity and what better way to please your fans then allowing everyone to play your games no matter what operating system they use.
The Linux community is by far more loyal than the Windows community. We (the linux gaming users) would happily pay 50-60 dollars to own your games (mainly because we are using a free operating system, so we have money to spend besides giving it to microsoft).
I hope that this letter gets read in full and gets taking into consideration. We the linux community hope that Rockstar North joins the Linux community and bring their superb talent to Linux
If you feel that strongly (like I do) about GTA on native linux, please email Rockstar or any gaming house and post the letter here for discussion or to just manifest some ideas.
