kohan brightness issue


hello!
Im trying to run Kohan: immortal sovereigns but the game is too dark...
my video card is a ATI Radeon 9200 128mgs. Im running Mandrake 10.1 in a Pentium4 1.7ghz and 512DDR.
What can I do??
I tried the kohan site at loki but was not much helpulf....

add or edit to your config file...

r_gamma "1.5"

That should help.

..and where can I find that file????? I looked in the kohan directory but couldnt find it there....(/usr/local/games/kohan)

ok well I found the Kohan.cfg file but I can't find the proper file editor to open it (in plain english).
Any suggestion?

the vim dislpayed just the same
lots of weird chars without sense, a few 'Default's but nothing understandable
