Help me with Doom Install!

I have a slight problem...

I used Dosemu to install doom, and configure it properly. However, whenever I start the game, I can hear the pc speaker go nutz at the demo, but I have no video output. The screen just shows the loading information. By sound I can navigate through the menu, but cannot quit.

And, oh yah, can't wait for Doom 3 linux!

Are you talking about Doom 1, the original? Just want to clarify that.

Might I suggest you try going about this the easy way and download yourself a copy of Doom Legacy. Doom 1 has been open sourced and compiled to run on Linux. if you do a little more searching you should be able to find a .bin version that will install by clicking on it in your file manager.

Actually, all the old Dooms use the same engine, so you can use Doom Legacy or another one for all of them. I recommend PRBoom, though:
http://prboom.sf.net
It has antialiasing in OpenGL mode, which you might like if you don't like pixelation (I think it looks cool, though ).
