Question Having an odd issue with Steam, could use some advice.

This is a bit of a loaded question for something rather trivial but the troubleshooting side of me just won't let it go, so please bear with me on this:

So about 3 months ago, when Steam pushed a UI update it broke some of the button on the discussions for me (Edit, Delete, Report, Block, Choose answer buttons simply don't respond when clicked). From what I've gathered I'm one of the only ones with this issue that uses Linux. Something trivial, that I thought I could just send a ticket to support and see if they could get it fixed.

Kicking it back and forth somehow the discussion in the ticket went from "It might just be a bug from the UI update" to "It's a censorship issue from a moderator???" and with the new ticket I started a couple days ago, now I have them telling me I need to upend my Debian 12 distribution for a pure, up-to-date Ubuntu installation??? I have no plans to do this of course. Debian 12 is very stable for me and I enjoy using it.

Steam discussions themselves pointed out that there's supposed to be a repair tool that I don't have in my folders for some odd reason that should help fix this sort of thing. Couldn't find a listing for it when searching the terminal either. Re-installation didn't change anything, and these non-functioning buttons work just fine on mobile.

I guess what I'm trying to ask advice for is, how do I even approach this problem now?! XD It's so trivial but it's stirred up so many questions and I have no idea how to deal with it anymore besides ignoring it. This isn't really an urgent issue so I can wait for an answer. Thanks in advanced!

I'm using Steam on LMDE (bookworm) and it's just fine. Move your steamapps folder, back it up or otherwise. Then remove the main .steam folder and "reinstall" it. It could just be something hung up in their config files. Once it's redone and logged in exit it completely then move the steamapps contents back into place. See what happens after this is done when you open steam again.

Thank you for your practical suggestion for this problem. I haven't really had one in nearly 3 months. I did as you suggested but unfortunately it also didn't work. Steam Support finally sent someone to my ticket who seems to have actually read my post (or is a real human, these days I can't be sure what's AI or not anymore). They suggested clearing web cache and opting into Steam Beta, but neither of these have made a difference unfortunately. I guess we'll see if they continue to offer human help to me.

Edit: Nevermind they closed the ticket because I won't overhaul my distribution to a pure Ubuntu installation.
Edit 2: Thinking that maybe it's actually a Chromium/Java problem with their client since I can use these trivial buttons in a normal browser and on mobile. Thinking maybe there isn't anything I can do about it.
