Cedega 5.0.1 not installing correctly

hello, i tried to install halflife 2 on cedega today and i got an annoying error.
when i run the installer and get to where it wants me to install steam, it says
cannot execute external command instmsi

i cannot get seem to get around this, i even tried to install steam first, but i get a similar error:
cannot execute external command steam.exe

this is rather annoying, and i would like to get off of windows, even for gaming.
thanks

I'd recommend posting this to Transgaming's support forum. That's one of the benefits of paying them $5 a month for their software subscription.

I also see that they have a dedecated forum for Half Life 2 (along with someone that has posted a thread on the same issue).

Good Luck.

Yup, make sure your $5 doesn't go to waste! The forums are pretty slow though, you can submit a support ticket directly to the Cedega developers but do your research and make sure the problem isn't something you've done wrong first. If you slow down their development with a stupid question I'll hunt you down.
