Hey all. I just installed NWN for Linux and everything went smoothly. I installed it in /usr/local/games/nwn/. If I run ./nwn from THAT dir, the game will load just fine. But I want it set up as a shortcut in my XFCE4 menu. But, when I try to run it from any outside directory, I get this:
I tried using a symlink to /usr/local/games/nwn/nwn. I tried just typing in /usr/local/games/nwn/nwn from my home dir. Always the same error. Also, when I attempt this, it creates a bunch of the NWN folders in whatever my current directory is. Does anybody know of a way arround this? It's not a huge problem to run ./nwn from the command line, but still....
there is a great tutorial on fred's corner.. about using it w/ wine.. you should take a look at that.. maby it would have the answer.. sorry.. .. i really havnt tried to run nwk on my linux box.. but the tutorial they gave for diablo 2 was exelent.. and worked just fine for me..
NWN is a native game for Linux. They have Linux installers for NWN on Bioware's NWN site.
As for the posters problem, when you run the game it should put stuff in your ~/home directory as /usr/local setup would allow for multipe users to use it if you have more than one user.
I cannot seem to reproduce the segfault on my Arch box atm, but will search around if others have reported the same prob, and if they found an answer for it.
create a bash script where first enter the directory where the game is located and then execute it. Is how I have it and runs without any problem at all.
