Battlefield with WineX cant find CD in the ingame-menu
I installed WineX 3.2 yesterday. Today i installed Battlefield, and it worked as it should. Then i installed the latest patch. I also got into the ingame-menu...thing..
But when i pressed start to start a game, A message alert came up; "Please insert either Battlefield CD". So i tried both, with no luck. Has anyone had the same problem, and know how to fix it?
My cdrom is mounted in fstab with ro (read-only) I even tried to umount, then remount the cdrom while i was in the ingame-menu. But nothing worked.
the cd-check thingie of battlefield isnt properly working in wine, so you get the please insert the correct cd error even when you have the original (bought) cds.
i have the same prob, and i have to use a no cd crack to play it, but now i cant play online

You can play max payne 2: the fall of max payne with WineX, and probably Wine as well. But there is somekind of limitation with the graphics-renderer or something. Go to www.transgaming.com.
But you said something about downgrading. Can you please be more specific?
And chup, im sorry for the solution there.. :| i would like to play it online. So if no one here knows a workaround - can you tell me where i can report this? or maybe give me some hints on how to fix it myself?
Anyways, I think I'll use that crack in the meanwhile.
Edit: But its no solution for me, since i have paid for Battlefield 1942, and would like to play it online. Does anyone have an idea of what i can do?
same thing here, i also bought bf in the store legally
this pisses me off, having paid $50 on the game and i still cant play online
the only solution until transgaming fixs the 'bug', at least afaik, is to either host your own cracked server or search for other servers running a cracked version of the game

Then downgrading is not an option
Hehe
There's also another problem with Battlefield and WineX (3.2);
After you have installed the latest patch (v 1.5), and try to install new programs, the installer to the battlefield comes up, and totally screw up the installation process for the new game. I see it has been posted on this forum, by Timeturtle; "Battlefield 1942 1.5 patch screwed up winex 3.2"
In other words, being a Battlefield gamer is a hell when you're running Linux (..?)
