Android on the Nintendo DSi XL

Hi All, sorry if this is on the wrong thread.
Has anyone tried Andriod OS on their Nintendo DSi XL?
If so can you let me know which version and how it was installed.
I am a newbie but want to learn more.
Would like to use my XL as a PDA and games unit while traveling.
Thanks
Gypsy

That's not a trivial undertaking. Consider some issues:
1. Kernel with suitable drivers - the android system usually runs on arm, for driving android devices. It's not like a distro kernel, which has all modules enabled. Your cpu is?? Your devices are probably
2. libc. At the heart of every system is a libc, which handles the i/o, disk writes, etc. That has addresses hardcoded into it for various parts of the box. All these may be subject to change on your nintendo.

These are challenges which keep software guys busy for a few months. If it has been done, find that, It is highly unlikely that this would work out of the box. I doubt if you have the hardware to program chips out of circuit to get over a bricked device.

Arrow It should work...

What we need to know is; How do you install the operating system on a DSI XL?

Will the DSI XL handle the software? I think it will handle an older version of Android...not Ice Cream, or even the version before that...probably on of the original stable releases.

This is why; The DSI XL is a dual processor ARM machine with an ARM7 and an ARM9 with 16mb of ram and a 256 meg SSD chip for a hard drive.

I also think that Android may only drive one, the touchscreen, of the two screens- android is designed for a mono-display, not a dual screen touch/no touch system- Android may also be confused by the human input devices hard wired to the DSI motherboard....

As Android is used on touch screen phones like Samsung, and on tablets. There is surly someone out there that has tried to get it working on a DSI XL which would make and excellent PDA. I am working on a different project so do not have the time to do it.
