Thanks for the links. My kids had happy days on an Amstrad 6128, while I had a single 180k floppy with word processor, spreadsheet, database program, a minicom type application and one or two others to run my fledgling business. That floppy managed saveable, printable files - not half the trouble printing that I get with linux! And Burnin' Rubber was the best game of it's type that I saw on a Z80.

If I get running, I will report back on sound.

Have you gtk, gdk & sdl development packages. No sound if you don't.

"My kids had happy days on an Amstrad 6128" they should be quite big today.

Amstrad 6128 was a first great era of computing, isn't it?
Did you code on this machine?

Yes, my youngest is 26.

No, I didn't get coding on it. I had get a Z80 Assembler and Monitor programs and loaded them by tape one after the other into a Sinclair Spectrum. I taught myself Assembler that way. Getting past the OS was the major obstacle. But they did have a series of software interrupts, much like the Dos interrupts. Then some little rugrat would come in and wiggle the power socket from the wall wart, reset the thing, and I had lost an hour's work!

With the 6128, I gave up early, let the kids have it, and bought a pc the next year.
