[quake 3] glide error

Hi,
I'm using Slackware 9.1 and installed via swaret these glide packages for my voodoo3 card

glide_cvg-2.53-i386-1 (203 kB)
glide_h3_dri-3.10-i386-1 (107 kB)
glide_h5_dri-3.10-i386-1 (190 kB)
glide_sdk-2.x-i386-1 (2048 kB)
glide_sdk-3.x-i386-1 (1758 kB)
glide_sst1-2.46-i386-1 (218 kB)
glide_sst96-2.46-i386-1 (227 kB)

I installed the linux version of Q3 and made an update to the latest point-release.

Starting quake3 brings back this error:
Code:
Couldn't get a visual
...WARNING: could not set the given mode (3)
----- CL_Shutdown -----
RE_Shutdown( 1 )
-----------------------
----- CL_Shutdown -----

Sys_Error: GLimp_Init() - could not load OpenGL subsystem
