Unhappy Which version of book to use for BLFS??? (LFS-6.7 used for building LFS)

I used LFS-6.7 for building up LFS system.
Now I am in a confusion that which version of BLFS book to be used to construct it. Currently I think only BLFS-6.3 is available which is compatible with LFS-6.3
No "6.7" version for BLFS!!!
Help me

Hi

Yes there is a problem with using the latest blfs, in that the packages have been updated and repuire different to the 1's you have installed. You could use the 6.3 version, I used Version svn-20110208 when I built on lfs 6.7 but I cant find this book online, I do have a copy of it.
I did start to update my 6.7 version but in the end just rebuilt the newest version which I found quicker.

Hi,

There's only one version of BLFS, not counting the historic versions that might still be out there.

As of some time now BLFS is regularly updated:
Quote:
This is the BLFS Book in its current state. It is updated frequently. Most package build instructions in the book are annotated "This package is known to build and work properly using an LFS-x.x platform." In most cases, older instructions will work with little or no modification on more recent versions of packages used in the book.
Also have a look at the line I made italic.

LFS 6.7 isn't the most recent version, but the previous version. I'm reasonably sure you can use the current BLFS version. Might need some tinkering at points, but isn't that half the fun

Hope this helps.

If it is of any help, I just completed a build that started with LFS 6.8, continued with the development BLFS that was up for so long, included some stuff from CBLFS and some stuff not in any of the books. It did involve upgrading some packages and I strayed from the book almost immediately by using the most up-to-date kernel, glibc, gcc, and binutils. I was truly amazed that I was able to complete the whole system, multimedia packages and all, with a minimum of hassle. The single biggest problem I encountered was the -Werror problem with the new glibc. What this showed me was that the whole LFS system is pretty consistent and allows considerable flexibility.
