Question Trouble with jutley Boot disk

I recently download the boot disk from www.jutley.org to help me install LFS. After booting, I can't connect to the internet or start X (it shows the cursor but the keyboard and mouse don't work). I have a pretty generic linksys ethernet card (I believe it uses tulip) an MS Optical USB Intellimouse, and an MS natural keyboard pro.
Does anyone have some general suggestions on what I could do (install some modules, change a config file) , or will that not work since it's a live-cd? I know I don't need X-windows to install LFS, but without the internet it's pretty difficult to do. Thanks in advance for any help.
