/run/var is missing

Hi

I have been trying to get gpm working in lfs.

The problem seems to be that /run/var is missing /run contains many

other directories but not var.

Can someone tell me me how /run/var is created.

/run is a memory based temporary filesystem created at boot like /sys and /proc. Generally its contents are created at same time?

Why do you think you need /run/var?

Is it possible you mean /var/run?
/var/run/gpm.pid The PID of the running gpm

I think you mean /var/run which is where gpm stores its runtime pid, /var/run is a symlink to /run.
How are you starting gpm?

I have built gpm-1.20.7 and have installed the init script.

When booting into the system the mouse does not work so:

Code:
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/gpm start gives:

Starting GPM Console Mouse Service.../lib/lsb/init-functions: line 644: /run/var/bootlog: no such file or directory
*
/lib/lsb/init-functions :line 586: /run/var/bootlog: no such file or directory.
So looking in /run I find several folders but not var.

Booting into a previous lfs system where gpm works fine I find /run contains var.

Thanks for your help on this folks.

I seem to have just been careless. I have gone through the creating directories files and symlinks section again and all seems ok now.
