restore lfs from tar.bz2 file

hi all,
i had successfully compiled LFS. immediately after i had a running LFS system i logged into my WS4 and took a tar.bz2 backup of the lfs system ( so that i can avoid recompiling it ). now after doing certain changes in my lfs system i need to revert back to the actual core lfs system. can i format the lfs partition and use that tar.bz2 file to restore things back to its place (ofcourse from WS login)? will that work? or is it that certain system files are supposed to be found at certain sectors of the HD (thus avoiding me to do this)??

thanks in advance.

yes it will, don't worry about the sector stuff, you'll need to edit /etc/fstab
IF, the original partition had changed.
