problem with 5.7glibc configure

i have just come across this error

checking installed Linux kernel header files... TOO OLD!
configure: error: GNU libc requires kernel header files from
Linux 2.0.10 or later to be installed before configuring.
The kernel header files are found usually in /usr/include/asm and
/usr/include/linux; make sure these directories use files from
Linux 2.0.10 or later. This check uses <linux/version.h>, so
make sure that file was built correctly when installing the kernel header
files. To use kernel headers not from /usr/include/linux, use the
configure option --with-headers.
lfs@ubuntu:/mnt/lfs/sources/glibc-build$ make
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.

help me

What chapter/section are you on. Make sure you install your kernel headers prior to glibc.

Also please tell us which version of the book you are using

Hi,

Did you skip 5.6. Linux-2.6.32.8 API Headers by any chance?

Glibc uses the headers installed in chapter 5.6 (with this configure option: --with-headers=/tools/include)

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Did you mount $LFS? If you (re)boot your computer $LFS (and possibly swap if you set that up) aren't mounted any more.

Mount $LFS and/or swap like you did in chapter 2.4.

BTW: I see that you use Ubuntu as host OS, did you make it compliant as stated in the Host System Requirements chapter. I would suggest using the LFS liveCD, makes things a lot easier.

Hope this helps.

Then something went wrong in chapter 5.6.

If you need to change any of the commands to make them work something is wrong and you probably cannot continue. You're still at the beginning of the build and I would advise to at least redo 5.6 and what has been done so far, even better would be to start over.

Hope this helps.
