The manual says:
cp -R include/asm-i386 /tools/include/asm
cp -R include/linux /tools/include
What is the full path of the "include/asm-i386" ?
Thank you
If someone can explain where the install process starts I would be happy because I'm confused about this.
I'm not a guru so if I'm wrong pleas speak up. But as I know the command cp it copy and moves files, so how come this is an install, as the book say ?
yes you just copy the files from the tar ball to where they go.
isn't all installing ultimately just copying files ?
these will be used as the header files (includes) to give compiling programs access to the glibc kernel routines. first in the temporary tools then later you will copy them again into the real system
You must have missed the beginning of the chapter 5.
There is an Important information:
Before issuing the build instructions for the package, the package should be unpacked as user lfs, and a cd into the created directory should be performed. The build instructions assume that the bash shell is in use.
So, having followed this procedure you should be within the directory:
/mnt/lfs/sources/Linux-Libc-Headers-2.6.11.2/
