Unhappy LFS 6.0 Chapter 6: compiling glibc problem

My host is RH9-2.6 ,im trying to compile glibc-2.3.4 in chroot environment,i got a problem:
#../glibc-2.3.4-20040701/configure --prefix=/usr --disable-profile --enable-add-ons --enable-kernel=2.6.0 --libexecdir=/usr/lib/glibc

...
configure:error:working compiler support for visibility attribute is required

below is the information for check:
on host:
$/lib/libc.so.6
....
linuxthreads-0.10...
..

on chroot env:
#/tools/lib/libc.so.6
....
Native Posix Thread Library..
...
#gcc -v
Reading specs from /tools/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.1/specs
Configured with: ../gcc-3.4.1/configure --prefix=/tools --libexecdir=/tools/lib --with-local-prefix=/tools --enable-clocale=gnu --enable-shared --enable-threads=posix --enable-__cxa_atexit --enable-languages=c,c++ --disable-libstdcxx-pch
Thread modelosix
gcc version 3.4.1

the gcc is compiled with glibc+nptl , is it the reason causing that problem?and any fix idea? thanks

Here I think I might have found the problem if not tell me, OK.
well you put:
Quote:
../glibc-2.3.4-20040701/configure --prefix=/usr --disable-profile --enable-add-ons --enable-kernel=2.6.0 --libexecdir=/usr/lib/glibc
and probably something else too, but it just stoped at those commands.

But, what you should have put 'If you reading LFS-6.0' is:
Quote:
../glibc-2.3.4-20040701/configure --prefix=/usr \
--disable-profile --enable-add-ons=nptl --with-tls \
--with-__thread --enable-kernel=2.6.0 --without-cvs \
--libexecdir=/usr/lib/glibc \
--with-headers=/tools/glibc-kernheaders
Tell me if I'm right.

Yes,that's right, and you will compile it within Kernel 6.0,but did you encounter my problem?

OK, I'm gonna go on a wild hunch and say that
Quote:
../glibc-2.3.4-20040701/configure --prefix=/usr --disable-profile --enable-add-ons --enable-kernel=2.6.0 --libexecdir=/usr/lib/glibc
aren't the commands you put.

In that case:
Can you post more of the Output, and start with the first instance of any kind of Error down to the end of the Output?

Oh, and just to be certain it's not the commands post them also.
