I'm assuming you are talking about gcc 4.6.3 and EGLIBC. If that is the case then these 2 seem to work (although I wouldn't use them when this would be my first LFS build).

I was wondering why the OP log showed using mawk not gawk, when I checked mine it was using gawk.
The dash vs bash issue might come into play here. The OP first has to make sure the host is compliant with the Host System Requirements.

The only other thing was OP uses "/mnt/Omoikane/sources not lfs would this be creating problems?
If the LFS variable is correctly set and the OP uses it consistently it isn't a problem. But again: Why deviate from the book, especially on the first build.

Prediction: The environment for user lfs isn't set correctly (dash doesn't read/parse the .bash{rc,_profile} files).

You will end up with a "dirty" environment and not the clean one as set by the files created here: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/...vironment.html

From that point on: all bets are off

- First and foremost: Host is not compliant.
why?
Code:
from post #16
configure: error: cannot compute suffix of object files: cannot compile

from post #18
configure:2572: checking for gawk
configure:2602: result: no
configure:2572: checking for mawk
configure:2588: found /usr/bin/mawk
configure:2599: result: mawk

from post #26
/bin/sh -> /bin/dash
gcc (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) 4.6.3
(Ubuntu EGLIBC 2.15-0ubuntu10) 2.15
The 2 in blue might or might not be a problem.

Secondly: I suspect that the OP didn't start with a clean sheet after failures. I.e. not removing (build)directories etc.
