GCC problem in live CD in binutils


hi
I boot using live CD follow all the intstruction on http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/hint...rom-livecd.txt

but when i configure the binutils in chapter 5 using following command
../binutils-2.15.94.0.2.2/configure --prefix=/tools --disable-nls

following was the output
checking whether ln -s works... yes
checking for gcc.. gcc
checking whether the c complier (gcc ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: c complier cannot create executables

please reply

did you make a symlink from your tools dir to / ???
