Without the missing information it is a bit of a guessing game.
What I find strange is that it did boot before, something must have changed between the last successful boot and the current situation. Are you sure you didn't change anything VM related?
If you would not have been able to boot at all (constantly getting the posted output) I would suggest you to look at and remove those options from the kernel that you don't need (IDE/SCSI/[SP]ATA/RAID/LVM related).
