350 mhz cpu

I bought a computer with a Pentium 2 Processor (350 megahurts), 64 mb of ram, and Nvidia Video Card. It has Windows 98 SE on it. I do not want that on my computer. Will Linux system built from scratch run good on it? I cannot get the computer to boot from the cdrom. I have looked for a way to change that in the Bios settings and did not find anything that would help.

LFS is not a standard compiled distro, as such you can't say wether it'll run well at all, as it's utterly down to you how you build it and what you run on it. you can run basic stuff on it no problem, but then only the same stuff you could run on fedora or somethign really.... if you're sole reason for using LFS is a slight performance boost, then that's really not a good reason to go for it.
