Question Urgent question for work this evening

I need a way to tell which RHEL version I'm using... ie: 2,3,4,5.

I'm sure it's an easy one, just don't have any docs in front of me and I need the info.

Anyone?

Try "cat /etc/redhat-release"

No problem IAN. Thanks for the quick reply. I'm pulling a night shift and needed the info for a series of scripts needed by morning.

The /etc/redhat-release is exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks!
