Unexpected Shutdown

I Really need some help this one is confusing. I was standing in the server room today when all of a suden I heard one of our blade servers just shutoff. After reviewing the logs I don't find anything really out of the ordinary untill one entry that out of the blue says.

localhost shutdown[6769]: shuutting down for system halt.

Any idea what could cause this. I'm running 5.1 on Intel Blade, Dual Zeon, 16GB RAM. System has been stable for months it's not like its a new build.

Thanks

I haven't experienced this myself, so I'm not sure where to start debugging. But you could check /var/log/secure for users with root privileges that were logged in at that time - maybe on of those haltet the server for some reason. Or maybe an application (with shutdown privileges) shut down the server?

And you didn't find anything suspicious is /var/log/messages? What other log messages did you get?

Is your server running cluster software?

A UPS connected to the server may tell it to shutdown.

Exactly. That's why I asked about the cluster software - if it's running the node may either be killed off by another node, or it may kill itself off.
