Why are you doing a rebuild?
Did you make a backup before attempting the rebuild?
(What does
Code:
db_verify /var/lib/rpm/Packages; echo $?
return?)
What happens if you run rebuild with verbosity turned up?

other than giving you your prompt back when done, it doesn't normally display anything when it's working.
