Not booting past swap space

I have recently installed ES 4 on a gigabyte 64 bit box. It ran fine until I moved the box to it's intended location. after which on boot it runs through startup fine until it comes to starting swap space, then it just stops with a blinking cursor. I have been through all the various connections but it detects the disks and file systems ok so I don't feel that is the case. Any suggestions that does not require reinstallation.

Try booting without swap. Boot to a CD and edit /etc/fstab. Comment out the swap line and reboot. See if the server comes online. If the server starts up, reformat the swap space with mkswap command. Then try to turn the swap space on manually with the swapon command. Use swapon -s to see if the swap space is activated.
