just open /boot/grub/grub.conf in your favourite text editor as root or via sudo and make the changes you need to make. Am I missing something??

Thanks acid for your quick response but as per below output

#boot=/dev/sda

default=1

timeout=5

splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz

hiddenmenu

title Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (2.6.18-8.elPAE)

title Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (2.6.18-8.el)

wheather i have change only default parameter from 1 to 0 to boot in pae mode, or I have remove completly option of default linux "title Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (2.6.18-8.el)"

So that after rebooting it should boot in pae kernel mode

dear manoj.linux,

I use fedora but just do similar to what i show okay? open up terminal and su to root, then type in gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst and press enter and you will something similar to this:

# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg.
# root (hd0,0)
# kernel /vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
# initrd /initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/sda
default=0
timeout=1
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
title Fedora (2.6.29-0.66.rc3.fc11.x86_64)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.29-0.66.rc3.fc11.x86_64 ro root=UUID=1818e8cd-3617-4f6f-a607-bf23cbc1c0e3 rhgb quiet vga=ask
initrd /initrd-2.6.29-0.66.rc3.fc11.x86_64.img
title Fedora (2.6.27.12-170.2.5.fc10.x86_64.debug)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.27.12-170.2.5.fc10.x86_64.debug ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet vga=ask
initrd /initrd-2.6.27.12-170.2.5.fc10.x86_64.debug.img

except with your information in place. Then you should make your file look like this:

# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg.
# root (hd0,0)
# kernel /vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
# initrd /initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/sda
default=0
timeout=1
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
title Fedora (2.6.27.12-170.2.5.fc10.x86_64.debug)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.27.12-170.2.5.fc10.x86_64.debug ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet vga=ask
initrd /initrd-2.6.27.12-170.2.5.fc10.x86_64.debug.img
title Fedora (2.6.29-0.66.rc3.fc11.x86_64)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.29-0.66.rc3.fc11.x86_64 ro root=UUID=1818e8cd-3617-4f6f-a607-bf23cbc1c0e3 rhgb quiet vga=ask
initrd /initrd-2.6.29-0.66.rc3.fc11.x86_64.img

All I did was switch the two kernels i around so grub will start the first one in the list

Good Luck
