How to test jboss from shell


I have installed apache+jboss on SLES 9 and need write a shell which tests if my web and application server is running.
I guess there is lots of ways to do this.
Can anybody help me??

Just write your application or script to search for the process running and or if the application is accepting connections on it's designated port, etc.

You could write a simple shell script which grabs the page with w3m or lynx and checks the output. Or you could use something like Nagios.
