Welcome to LQ!!

One good source is http://tldp.org
Also look at the O'Reilly web site---some books are free online, and they have the Safari subscription service.

I really like to have physical books around when learning a new subject. The online resources like tldp and others are great work, but I usually find them most useful when there is something specific that I know I want to know.

Some books I found useful in the beginning:

Your UNIX: the ultimate quide
UNIX powertools
RHCE study guide
