GTK dependency when ./configuring package on RHEL4

I'm trying to compile a program called xvidcap which is essentially a
camtasia clone for linux. I'm on RHEL 4. When I try to ./configure it, I get:

...
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for PACKAGE... Package gtk+-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config
search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtk+-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'gtk+-2.0' found
configure: error: Package requirements (gtk+-2.0 >= 2.4.0 libglade-2.0
glib-2.0 gthread-2.0) were not met:

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables PACKAGE_CFLAGS
and PACKAGE_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Any idea?

hello.
just because pkg-config didn't find it it doesn't mean it is not there.
b4 you install I would do a search for gtk+-2.0.pc and libglad+-2.0

if you find them on your box
do export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/path/to/the/above/files
mine are in /usr/lib/pkgconfig

thus I would do
Code:
 export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib/pkgconfig
then re-try.

It turned out I needed to install the headers. This fixed it:

yum install gtk2-devel
yum install libglade2-devel
