Getting error when trying to change NT password using passwd

I am using winbind to authenticate AD users currently, but am having an issue changing their password from Linux. When I run passwd for the user, I am prompted for their current password, and then prompted for their new password. After a second, I get a passwd: System Error.

I checked /var/log/messages and am getting the following error:

pam_winbind[15792]: request failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED, PAM error was 4, NT error was NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

I am not sure why I am getting this error as access should be fine. Has anyone seen this?
