gcc parameters for IBM p690 system

Hi
Mmmhh, I'd like to compile on my notebook using gcc and g++ some small programs to be used on an IBM p690 system, but I don't know which flags I am supposed to use (-mcpu, -mtune, -march, etc...) to make the compiled file binary compatible with the p690.
I know that the processors that are installed in the p690 are Power4 and I know that here http://gentoo-wiki.com/Safe_Cflags I can find some gcc parameters, but I'm actually so stupid that:
- I am not sure if a "Power4" processor is actually a "PowerPC" processor
- I'm not able understand how I can extract from the AIX OS the processor type/model that is installed.
So, here come the questions:
- Is a "Power4"-processor a synonym of "PowerPC"? If not, what is it?
- How do I get from AIX 5.2 the processor model/type? The file "/proc/cpuinfo" does not exist in there.
- How should I set in Linux the -mcpu, -march, -mtune, etc... flags, so that the compiled program runs under in a p690 system with Power4-processors and AIX 5.2 OS?
Thanks a lot...

Code:
localhost ~ # gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 4.1.1 (Gentoo 4.1.1-r3)

Found this, but each time I try some of the options I get, e.g.:
Code:
localhost src # gcc -O2 -mcpu=powerpc c_cint.cpp -o c_cint
`-mcpu=' is deprecated. Use `-mtune=' or '-march=' instead.
c_cint.cpp:1: error: bad value (powerpc) for -mtune= switch
Mmmhh, perhaps those options work ony with gcc 3.x?
