Hi guys,

I was trying to start SSH client to logon to another machine but was greated with the following error message.
"ssh: error while loading shared libraries: libcrypto.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

I trIed to do a ln -s libcrypto.so.0.9.7a libcrypto.so.4 in /lib
but to no avail....

Any suggestions?

Thank in advance.

Openssl 0.9.7a provides libcrypto.so.4 and libcrypto.so.0.9.7a, so try reinstalling it.

OiC, i thought of reinstalling the openssh but i installed techtia ssh server in the RHEL too. Is there a possibility the open SSH would override the techtia ssh?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have a clue about this one because I have only ever used openssh.

You should've linked it in /usr/local/lib if techtia was installed in /usr/local.

To know exactly what's needed and where it searches for, try ldd, for example:

Code:
stuff@laptop:~$ ldd /bin/echo
        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xffffe000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xb7e42000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7f94000)

ldd - print shared library dependencies
You want to know what files are linked? like symlinks? 'ls' should show you that:

Code:
stuff@laptop:~$ ls -l totolink
lrwxrwxrwx 1 stuff stuff 4 2007-08-15 07:58 totolink -> toto

You can even link your library files via /etc/ld.so.conf file by giving the path.
and do ldconfig.
:-)
