EL x86_64 GCC and QLA

Hey guys, I am running a:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 4)

box that has a qla2340 card in it. After it came up I noticed that it can see all of my fiber drives and must be using a nativly supported driver for the card. I want to put the newest version of the driver on the box so I can use persistant binding and such. So I downloaded the driver package but can not install it.

./qlinstall -i

#*********************************************************#
# SANsurfer Driver Installer for Linux #
# Installer Version: 1.01.00pre14 #
#*********************************************************#

Kernel version: 2.6.9-42.ELsmp
Distribution: Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 4)

Found QLogic Fibre Channel Adapter in the system
1. ISP2312
Installation will begin for following driver
1. qla2xxx version: v8.01.06

ERROR: gcc is not installed. Can not process further.
Please install gcc before running the QLogic Linux HBA driver installation.

ok so no gcc - what is the best way to get gcc? I tried the source but obviously can not install it because I have no compilier. How do I know all of the deps? What about the right version?

Any help would be cool.

thanks

It should be on the installation media just look for the gcc rpm fles and install them, for example;

rpm -Uvh gcc*.rpm libstdc++*.rpm

Or try; up2date install gcc libstdc++

Thanks - it was a long process of doing just that. Grabbing the stuff off of cd - then grabbing the dep (repeat) then it eventually worked and I am all good.

Thanks

Glad you got the issue resolved, yes it is a bit of a pain but the next release of RHEL will resolve issues like this much easier.

For example using your issue; yum install gcc
