Default console/screen display on bootup

I am working in RHEL 5.0

I have merged my application into inittab. So, whenever the system boots up, my appln will start running in Console 3(Alt F3)

But by default, upon system boot up, Console 1(Alt F1) is visble.

Can anyone tell me how to make the system to display the Console 3 upon boot up?

If i am not wrong, do i need to change anything in inittab file?

Thanks for your help.

I'm not totally clear what you are asking. Maybe you want to add "console=tty2" to the kernel boot line. Try testing it once by editing the boot line. If it works, add it to /boot/grub/menu.lst or /etc/lilo.conf (depending upon which boot loader you are using).

Unhappy

To be more clear, i want the system to display the console 3(tty3) instead of the default console 1(tty1)

As you mentioned, do i need to add "console=tty2" in /boot/grub/menu.lst?

Thank you once again.

Adding "console-tty2" to /etc/grub.conf didnt help to bring up the system in console tty3.

Do i need to create link between /dev/console and /dev/tty3?
