Creating a cluster of a live machine

Hi,

I am using Dell Power Edge 850 in our company.

It is the only machine we have which is hosting our

Apache webserver ( hosting around 12 websites)
Squid proxy server
Postfix mail server
DNS caching server ( queries the root servers directly)

Out of these two, the apache and the mail are very important and I want to be able to create a cluster of these two servers.

if some thing happens to any of the two , the other standby server hosting an exact replica of the two should be able to take over without any one knowing.

my manager has given me a green light to buy a new machine for it. but before i go ahead i would like to make sure that it is possible.

so just to recap of what i want.

A solution which enables me to create a live cluster image of my mail and web server for purposes of faul tolerance and disaster management.

The current machine is running on a ubuntu kernel 2.6.

Let me know if any other information is required.

What do you mean by 'cluster'? As in an HA cluster (High Availability) because what you're describing sounds like you want to create a cluster of the actual mail and web server software.
