A good memory usage monitor?

Hi Guys

Can anyone recommend me a RAM memory testing utility, and a memory usage monitor i.e. whose using most ram. The OS is red hat es 4

open a terminal and type in top

gkrellm is pretty nice if you want a simpler GUI tool

thanks for reply, i know all the basic command tools, just wondering if there is a long term monitoring tool i.e. logging to a file or database, i dont really want to output the top or vmstat command to a file.
