can you help me with yum problem, I have created repo file in /etc/yum/repos.d/server.repo, and I have done createrepo /var/ftp/pub/CentOS/

configuration of repos is below

[server installer]
name=CentOS Linux
baseurl=ftp://172.16.19.66/pub/CentOS/
enabled=1
gpgcheck=0


what error I get is below


[root@rahil /]# yum install bind
ftp://172.16.19.66/pub/CentOS/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 4] IOError: [Errno ftp error] 550 Failed to change directory.
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: server installer. Please verify its path and try again


this is my error can u help me

Looks like the permission on the /pub/CentOS/repodata/ directory are causing you problems. Did you check the user you FTP in as has the rights to access it and the files within?

Last time I saw this type of error myself the path was incorrect in the setup/configuration in the baseurl for yum or with the ftp daemon if that is not the configured path. If you setup your ftp to have the directory root as /var/ftp/pub then you'll want to make your ftp URL in your yum config look like this:

baseurl=ftp://172.16.19.66/CentOS/

Usually it will actually provide permission denied when it's denied such access from what I recall. Can't change directory is an actual path issue/problem.
