It's good that you people finally got to the point and were honest to tell, that kde/gnome isn't superior, and it is the true that windoze xp is more stable + faster on same hardware.
I have a K6/2 400 laptop with 32 MB RAM running Salckware 8.1, it can load up Gnome 1.4 in under 30 seconds, but I wouldn't to even want try loading Windows 2000 or XP on it.

Sure this laptop is pretty slow with 32 MB RAM running Gnome, but my mission is to optimise the crap out of anything I can on this machine (eg. the kernel, GUI-based programs, etc) with upgrading hardware.
