SuSE 9.1, brand new installation, PATH seems to change
Hey all, I just installed SuSE 9.1 for the very first time, and I've noticed that my path seems to change after I log in.
During start-up, things from /sbin seem to run just fine, though they aren't designated as being in /sbin (I'm assuming that's because /sbin is in the search path). I've grepped the /etc directory for "PATH" with the --directories=recurse option set, and /sbin pops up all over the place in path designations. However, after I login, and KDE has started up, when I run Konsole, the path no longer seems to include /sbin.
Does anyone have any idea where I might look to figure out where this PATH change is taking place, and fix it so /sbin is added to the PATH (heck, I don't even care if I know where the change is happening, if I can just figure out where to put PATH=$PATH:/sbin, and make it stick).
Just posting to follow up on my own post. After lots of searching, I read repeatedly about editing the file /etc/profile.local to effect changes like this, but always in relation to earlier releases of SuSE. I looked, and didn't find the file on my system, so I thought things much have changed in 9.1, but I couldn't find anything else, so I finally tried creating the file with the line "export PATH=$PATH:/foo:...." etc, rebooted and it worked. So I guess I've solved my own problem. Sorry to bother everyone.
